From the village of Ransol we will take the carretera de la Coma until we reach the pont de Mos, where we will continue along the road on the left until we find snow. From the end of the road, at 1,953 m, we will cross the bridge (picnic area) and enter the bosc de l'Hostal del Poll heading east, climbing parallel to the riu de les Portelles. Once out of the forest and past the flat, we will go up the bed of the main gully heading northeast, which will take us straight to the portella de la Coma de Varilles (2,565 m). The final stretch of the route is the steepest and, depending on snow conditions, ski crampons or an ice axe and crampons may be necessary.
