From the village of Ransol we will take the carretera de la Coma until we reach the pont de Mos, where we will continue along the road on the left until we find snow. From the end of the road, at 1,953 m, we will cross the bridge (picnic area) and enter the bosc de l'Hostal del Poll heading east, climbing parallel to the riu de les Portelles. Once out of the forest and past the flat, we will cross this stream (2,200 m) and continue climbing, first east and then northeast, to the clots de Caraup. We will overcome a few steps and reach the cap de la serra, choosing our terrain carefully. We will follow the ridge on the right heading southeast to the pic de la Coma de Varilles (2,760 m). Depending on snow conditions, we will need crampons and an ice axe to reach the summit.
