From the parking lot of Sorteny we will enter the forest of the Rialb valley and follow the river along its right bank. The terrain is easy, but sometimes the lack of snow inside the wooded part can make it difficult to progress. Once we leave the forest, in the plateau of Rabassa, we will find on the right a more deforested area: it is the Font Freda valley, which can fall naturally in conditions of great instability. From this point until we reach the Rialb refuge we will be exposed to falling natural avalanches to the right and left.. In addition, the terrain configuration in this sector is unfavorable (trap terrain), since a small purge could bury us completely, so it is advisable to separate the group well. Once we get to the Rialb refuge we have two options: we can continue down the valley about 300 meters and turn right until we find a tube, or we can continue to the right of the refuge to the same tube. Once we pass this tube, the ground opens up and smooths and we progress to a very smooth slope that is left to the right of the stream. As we progress, we will discover the port of Banyell.. We leave the port on our left to head for a channel that will take us to the north slope of Banyell Peak. Once we get here, we'll climb up the mountain to the top.. We will follow the mountain range of the Forn in the SE direction in search of less sloping terrain, by which we will descend to the plateau of the Racón. From here we continue through the woods to the refuge, where we find the trail that leads to the Sorteny parking lot.. This route can also be done in the opposite direction, going up the Rialb valley and down towards Sorteny. Depending on the conditions, knives or staples and chickpeas may be needed
